DR Pop Warner PeeWee Cheer team- Quest to Nationals in Disney
On Saturday, November 16th, a group of twelve 6th and 7th grade girls from two small, quite and rural towns Dighton and Rehoboth proved that anything is possible when, for the first time in the history of DR Pop Warner Cheerleading, they were able to place 2nd in the New England Regional Cheer Championships in Springfield, MA earning the right to compete for the National Championship! There are approximately 180,000 children participating in Pop Warner CHEER & DANCE. Out of thousands of children that competed across the nation at the regional level these girls are among about 20 teams in their category to make it to Nationals!
There is only one problem - the cost to get the entire team to Disney World in Orlando, FL is outrageous!!! These girls surprised us to the point that we have just found out that they have 3 weeks to raise $1500 per cheerleader and so we have turned to YOU - family, friends, strangers...anyone with a giving heart for a DR Cheerleader!!! Any amount, no matter how small or BIG can help us reach our goal and make this dream a reality for Ashley, Abby, Alyssa G., Alyssa K., Adrienne, Brooke, Chelsea, Hailey, Madison, Madeline, Maia, and Taegan!
Competition day is 12/10/13 Live Video Streaming will be offered on ESPN3.com
Without fundraising, it just won't be possible for all of us to afford it, especially at this time of year. We need to make sure all the girls can get there, so that the entire team can compete. Believe me, your donation will be appreciated as we are teaching these girls the invaluable lessons of teamwork, character, perseverance, and sportsmanship - - competing at this level, is another step in that process and an experience they will likely never have again. THANK YOU!
You can make a donation at the following at the following site- http://www.gofundme.com/5c4hzo
A donation can also be made by check, payable to "Dighton Rehoboth Jr Football and Cheer" . Checks can be sent to the fundraising coordinator-

The town of Dighton is currently seeking community members interested in serving on the Dighton Cultural Council. There are at least 3 vacancies on the council that need to be filled.
The Dighton Cultural Council is part of a grass-roots network of 329 local councils that serve every city and town in the state. The program is the largest, most decentralized one of its kind in the United States. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which then allocates funds to each local council.
Previous grants awarded by the council have included support of Little Folks Theatre, programs and passes at Dighton Public Library, entertainment at Prime Time/Council on Aging, Music at the Cow Chip Festival, D-R school fireld trips and many others local events and programs.
